Angels beat writer Jeff Fletcher sat down with Mark Gubicza of Fox Sports before Sunday’s game in Chicago to talk about Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout.

Fletcher shared his thoughts on when Ohtani should have Tommy John surgery and whether he is a strong candidate for American League Rookie of the Year.

On the topic of awards, Fletcher provides his take on whether Trout could win the MVP this season.

Good stuff, Jeff. As usual, nothing to disagree on with your takes. 

Mookie will win MVP and is a worthy recipient, even if Trout ends up with equal or slightly better stats. 

That said, if JD Martinez pulls off the Triple Crown, Mookie could be in trouble and Trout could sneak it in, especially given Jose Ramirez's recent slump. The race isn't over yet.

If JD Martinez wins the triple crown then he better win the MVP, otherwise people will riot over Cabreras victory over trout.
