Angels' Double-A players will be Trash Pandas

As most of you probably know, the Angels' Double-A affiliate is moving from Mobile to Madison, Ala., for 2018 and now they have a name: the Rocket City Trash Pandas.

Before you groan too loudly, you'll see in the link that Trash Pandas was probably the best of a pretty weak group of nickname finalists.

I know but when someone gets called up to the Angels they could just drive up to the majors.

Unless they’re in one of the numerous Southern League parks that are, you know, in the south

The thing with Double-A is that it doesn't have any leagues (or teams) west of the Rockies, so the West Coast teams will always have some distance between them and their Double-A affiliates.

When it comes to minor league baseball, the more unique the name, the better.

Rocket City Trash Pandas tops the list.

There should be a west coast double A league. I think the closest AA team is in Texas.

The AHL in Hockey used to be like that, now they have a west coast division.
