I'm not going to pretend that I know the political turmoil and history of South Africa.  I imagine the answer is more complex than just saying, "yes it's wrong" or "no it's not."

This is a complicated situation.  It really isn’t a simple thing.  We all know about apartheid and it’s legacy didn’t vanish overnight.  It’s dishonest to claim this is simple land theft.  There’s a complex history here. I’ve seen people here referencing the Zimbabwe fiasco.  Certainly, that was handled badly and hopefully South Africa doesn’t intend on following that model.  

IMO, the land owners should be compensated for their land, end of story.  I assume almost all of these folks are multi generational.  Whites do owe Black South Africans restitution’s but they also, are legitimately South Africans like their ethnically Black countrymen. Therefore, they should be treated in manner that doesn’t leave them destitute.  I may be incorrect here, but from what I’ve read, the intention of the South African government is not to seize all of the farms from all white farmers.  It’s rather an effort to redistribute land that has been dominated by whites due to the countries history.  I don’t know how that should be settled, but like I said.  Apartheid wasn’t so long ago, and whites should accept that they owe restitution.  That may appropriately mean not gettting full value for some land that they will have to surrender.  

Some are trying to frame this as scary blacks coming to murder and steal from whites.  That’s typically racist and wrong.  I think Americans should accept the history as it is, try to be impartial and let South Africans work this out.

I pretty much agree with this but Zimbabwe is a pretty scary picture now.
