Angels' Ward expands tools in breakout year: Team's No. 8 prospect raking at dish after switching to third base

Recommended Posts

For those that aren't frequent visitors in the minor league thread. Our former 1st round draft pick in 2015, Taylor Ward, has switched positions this year from catcher to third base. What resulted in the position change was something none of us could have predicted. The "defensive minded" Ward is slashing .351/.448/.550 between Double-A and Triple-A this season with 14 home-runs, 22 doubles and 17 (!!!!!) stolen bases. Let's hope that this breakout is legit and he will be a staple in the Angels' core in the near future. An article was just posted on his breakout year and I highly recommend everyone to give it a read.

Seems like the Angels are about to do a "soft sale" in which they sell the guts with expiring contracts that they won't be bringing back.

Kinsler and Valbuena, Jim Johnson too.

But after the deadline, if no one is showing interest in Valbuena, I think he'll be released and we'll see Ward and/or Thaiss up.
