Trade Garrett Richards

Recommended Posts

Im not 'for' trading richards. Warts and all, hes still a very good pitcher.

That said, this season is over...if we could get something for him...

If the thought process is trade him away, then resign him, the gamble is he doesnt come back. Well, he might not come back next year anyway. And if the team isnt interested in resigning him to begin with...get something for him now.

If you could choose between signing him to a team friendly extension now or trading him now and hope he still resigns after the season - what would you choose?

Trade him if it’s a good return....

Depends on what we're getting back.

The problem we all have when we speculate on here is that we dont know the crucial info.

As far as we know, the angels love richards and will pay him a ton to stay. Or they are over him, and have no desire to bring him back. Or something in between.

So to answer your question, if someone is offering a legit player, something that can help us more than richards going forward, id do it. But i have no clue if hed come back after, or if they (the team) even cares if he doesnt.

To think that Richards will extend for cheap is laughable. Team friendly deal maybe he takes $60 million instead of $65 million over 4 years. The guy is healthy this year. Has a career ERA of 3.52 all in the AL. Has the pedigree of being a 1st round draft pick & has some of the best stuff in baseball.

Simple answer is trade him for a top 100 prospect.

Who was the pitcher a few years ago that everyone was clamoring to be traded at the deadline for us?

And then he was injured close to the deadline.

I know we have had a lot of pitcher injuries so maybe this is a hard question.

It was Richards.
