I remember back when Beltre was in Seattle the narrative was that he was over-rated.  Even when he left Boston to become a  FA - the majority of people seemed to think he was over-rated.  It's funny how time changes things and now the narrative is that the Angels should have signed him.

And not losing the clubhouse over the course of a long and crazy season.....never thought he was a great X and O guy but I do think his temperament is his strength...

Managing the club house us far more impirtant!

I dont think there are any X and O in baseball.

Tactical decisions in baseball does not have the same impact on the outcome of the game as in basketball or football!

Managing the club house, building confidence, keeping players mentally focused is far more important than tactical decisions.

Mostly agree.....the clubhouse is the most important thing....but, although I don't think it's at the level of football or basketball, I do think strategy is important too....I would consider his stubborness with lineups to be tactical and I've always thought the criticism there was sometimes, though not always, fair....the criticism takes on a life of its own at times and gets downright silly but he has a stubborn streak about playing guys at times that I don't think is always productive.
