Roster has been decimated by injuries and all the veterans decided to suck ass. What can he do?

Nothing, really. Doesn't change the fact he went looking for clean peanuts in the porta potty yet found nothing but solid f*cking chunks of shit. You'd think one or two of these guys would actually be decent and not the worst thing to ever occur on a pitcher's mound but here we are.

It's not entirely Eppler's fault, but if he's going to take the cheap, "bullpens are fickle" route, then his process should work. This year it has not. Doesn't mean the process is wrong, but it just completely failed this year.

And yes I know the offense scored 2 runs. But the same logic that states "you can't win many games scoring 2 runs" should also state you can't win many games when the "depth" your GM has assembled allows 8 runs.

Hence, this rant.

there was just never enough talent in the pen. 

SP has performed well when healthy.  Even the depth has been solid enough although the injuries have further exposed the pen.  

There was enough talent on offense.  They just haven't performed.  That's also on Eppler to some degree because he chose the poor performers but that's more on the actual players in my opinion.

I used to get excited when Eppler would claim some random reliever off of waivers because they were always studs somehow. But now it’s looking like a lot of luck as many of them came back to earth and all the new ones have been absolutely terrible

Yep.  I mean who really thinks Albert, Kinsler, Cozart, Calhoun, Valbuena, Johnson, Parades, Ramirez, Anderson, Deek, Morris, Nobles, Marte, Young, Blash, Hermosillo, would be killing it for other teams right now?  Scioscia is far from perfect, but damn, these are guys he has to use on the daily.
