I think in 2019, the team will be presented with more bullpen options. You have to figure Alex Meyer and JC Ramirez return to relief rather than starting. Shoemaker won't have any trade value this offseason coming off surgery and missing multiple seasons, but he should return in a relief role in August and I think that's where he stays going into next year, until the Angels absolutely need him, but with Canning, Suarez, Pena, Lamb and Gatto, it's unlikely he'll be called upon.

Those three alone figure to help the bullpen by leaps and bounds. If we figure the Angels add a couple multi-year pieces this deadline and winter, the bullpen could figure not to suck as bad in 2019.

And as for September call ups, only if they're on the 40 man and can help the team in some facet. As much as I know Ward and Thaiss are better than the major leaguers blocking them, the team hasn't shown any interest in making a drastic change like that.

Normally, I'd say they keep Canning and Suarez down to manage their innings, but if they can help eat innings, or help the bullpen, why not?
