I love the sensibility in this post. It is 2018...TJ surgery isn't career ending like it used to be. Ohtani needs to get the TJ surgery out of the way and come back end of next year or 2020 doing what we signed him for -- pitching and hitting. He's too damn good of a pitcher to make him a full time hitter. Yes it sucks right now, but he'll come back better than ever and maybe even with an extra tick or two on his fastball.

This is inevitable for someone who throws so many splitters. Add to that the sharp slider and high 90s fastball and the torque on his elbow is outrageous. 

At worst he can be a huge asset as a DH this season and beyond
