Run differential means shit!  Its is a useless stat!

Actually, it can be used to tell the story. For instance, we have a better run differential than the Mariners, but they have seven more wins.

Why? Because they have a better bullpen that allows them to win close games. We lose a lot of the close ones.

Ok I concede that.  But many view the higher the run differential the better the team.

As a general rule, that is correct (it's often referred to as the Pythagorean theorem of baseball: runs scored/(runs scored + runs allowed) = expected winning percentage). But where it really comes into play is if there is a large deviation from the expectation and determining why.

The reason for our deviation is pretty damn obvious.

Yes I always felt the Pythagorean theorem is full of shit.

Mental focus changes with big leads and deficits .  Thus they are less likely to score more runs and more likely to give up more runs.

Game strategy changes with big leads and deficits

Okay, maybe it’s better to say his body does not seem to hold up to the rigors of a full MLB season, which iirc he has never, eeeever gotten through without a DL stint?

Yep, his damn knee is a pussy that gives away when he twists it horribly covering first.

No it isn’t.  The last two years the worst a team has finished in run differential in the league and made it to the World Series is 4th.

That doesnt mean much.  It could be a coincidence.  Obviously the team winning would be higher because they are winning more games than they are losing.  The team with a great pitching staff will always have more close games v a team with a great offense.  That wont mean the great offense is a better team.

Point taken, but it was just one of many times he’s been on the DL.

When someone fails to get through any season since 2014 without going on the DL, that is a red flag.
