Lost one of their best players to a drug suspension.  

21-9 in one run games.  The fact that they've even played 30 one run games in their first 67 is crazy.  

6-0 in extra innings

+7 vs. their run differential.  

Wade Leblanc has and era of 2.45 in 8 starts.  James Pazos and Chase Bradford have a sub 2 era

did I miss anything?  

while their differential doesn't support their record, we've seen teams sustain these paces for individual seasons.  Particularly when they have a good offense and bullpen.  Which they do. 

On top of that, we know that the M's have the worst farm in baseball so whatever is left will be used to help this team make a run.  My guess is that they acquire the best starting pitcher they can get at the deadline or sooner.  Maybe even two of them.  If I had to guess, one of them would be Cole Hamels for a package that includes Kyle Lewis as well as JA Happ for Evan White and Sam Carlson.

If the Ms do make the playoffs, it will be as 2nd WC and they will get crushed by either BOS or NYY.  Odds are increasing that they will get the 2nd WC though because the Angels are their only real threat and the only thing the Angels have going for them is a solid rotation and Mike Trout which is likely not enough.  Luckily, after the Ms lose the 2nd WC, 2019 will present them with a barren farm system and more competition

There are teams I generally hate... A's, Dodgers, Yankees, Red Sox, etc.

And there are teams I hate in any given year, depending on circumstances.  Texas has been one of those teams.... This year it's the Mariners.
