While i hope it works out, assuming that every one of them turns out to be a good, not even great, major leaguer is a huge stretch.
Why would guys like Trout and Simmons or even Upton go thru growing pains at this point?  it wont happen, they will all eave asap.  If thats the plan then start trading them while they have max value and quite pretending to be a contender.

You still refuse to acknowledge the big picture. You seem to think that having young talent =/= competing. Look at the Cubs and the Astros.

We can't rely on picking up veterans every time we have a hole. We need to fill them with youth from the farm. We now have a system with guys worth filling those holes.

No, you think it means doing so right away, and it doesn't.  how many years were they terrible before the got it together?   to assume year one they jive is not realistic.
Plus, our guys are not as good as those they got in all likelyhood.

And i never suggested getting vets every time, only that in this case, if you go young, you better pray you get the results of the astros or cubs as if you dont you lose the best player on the planet.   This "windows is largely dependent on Trout.  His last 2 years under contract is NOT the time for a youth movement if you plan to keep him.

I hadn't even mentioned any of the guys who can't realistically be counted on to help the team in the next 2.5 years. Guys like Maitan or this year's draft class.

My only disagreement is that I think the prospect media recognizes how good and deep the system has gotten over the last 2 years. Keith Law, BA, and especially Fangraphs seem to be really excited about our system. If a person doesn't pay attention to it they won't find it. The larger baseball media hasn't really caught on yet, though.

The prospect mavens are definitely on board -- but then you have every shit-head beat writer in the country that still tries to make cutesy comments about the Los Angels Angels of Anaheim of California of the USA of planet Earth, talking about how the Angels have no pitching and a weak farm system...   That's the common narrative among casual fans.

Law and FG have been almost effusive about the system...

@Inside Pitch It's been a long time since the Angels had an influx of home grown talent occupying starting positions around the diamond (not just 1 or 2).  Most of our fans forgot what that's like.  Some are so new - they never even experienced it.  Also - the past history of the guys who didn't pan out for one reason or another make some fans pessimistic.  It's definitely a "new day."

It's an exciting time , but some don't want to get their hopes up too much.
