My brother who works at a physical therapy clinic says he’s seen patients who’ve had prp/stem cell injections is usually 6-8 weeks, not 3

Ok, I am guessing the 3 weeks is to check on measurable improvement.

After three weeks they'd just be looking for signs of improvement, not be a complete recovery time. Right?

That's what I'm thinking as well.  Just like with Richards and Ramirez, they give them the injections, check the progress and go from there.

Amputation?

I like fs79's idea, give every drafted pitcher at least the injection upon being drafted.    Seems like a lot of them end up needing it anyway.

(I know, overkill.    We are talking Halos here, maybe the most jinxed MLB team.   Who else is more jinxed?????)

I would think the wise move from here would be to shut him down for awhile and focus on getting his bat back in the lineup. Reevaluate pitching in the stretch run.

Yeah, I'm thinking that, even if he responds to the injections and his elbow continues to heal, he not pitch the rest of the season and becomes fulltime DH and then come back spring of next year ready to go.

Look at the Rays starting pitching depth chart: http://tampabay.rays.mlb.com/team/depth_chart/?c_id=tb

So best case scenario he makes one start before the All-Star break.  Barria will not be going up and down anymore.  Richards, Heaney, Skaggs, Barria and Tropeano are our new starting 5 for the foreseeable future.  DH will be a lot of Luis, Albert and Marte.

Barria on a innings limit. He’d be good till about the end of August ?
