Never watched star trek before except for when I was really young (like 5 or younger) so I had no expectations of liking the movie going into it.  Boy was I surprised. I was completely into the movie from the get go and entertained throughout.  Will definitely see the next Star Trek movie that comes out!

Question is, will JJ Abrams be directing it?  With him on the Star Wars seat now, I don't know if he will be back.

It's possible.  Star Wars is coming out in 2015 which means JJ Abrams can start production on the next Star Trek movie later that year and still have it out by 2017.  That's 4 years between movies which was the same time between Star Trek 1 and 2.  However, I think it's unlikely he would do both franchises and may just stick with Star Wars.  He's admitted he was never a Trek fan growing up and knew little about it before making the movies.  However, he is a huge Star Wars fan and was as a kid so it's probably his dream job.

I loved the ties to The Wrath of Khan.

Nerds.

The part at the almost-end was particularly well done.

Just saw it today, loved it.  The new Kirk and Spock are perfectly cast.
