RIP Bruce Kison

He won two World Series with the Pirates and later pitched for the Angels.

68 years old. Too young...cancer sucks.

One of my earliest baseball memories is of him pitching in the 1971 World Series. It was the first world series I ever watched because they put the games on at night for the first time.

Bruce Kison threw a complete game and was the winning pitcher in Game 2 of the 1982 ALCS. I was 15 years old and my dad called me at home and asked if I wanted to go to the game that night. One of the guys at work had two extra tickets! It was the first time that I walked out of the Big A knowing the Angels only had to win one more game to go to the World Series. Great memory!

He was iirc the youngest pitcher to ever start a WS game at 21 in 1971, and to boot the first ever WS night game.

He had a near no-hitter in one of his first starts as a Halos pitcher in Minnesota in 1980.

R.I.P. Bruce.

He was a true old style pitcher, who respected the game and wasn't afraid to brush batters back and had the control to do so.

He only hit 18 batters in 451 innings over 5 seasons here.
