It's not necessarily bad thing to be streaky. A guy like Upton, if he gets hot at the right time, can carry a team to a WS. Just have to hope the timing works like that.

Trout has been pretty streaky this season. Granted, the streaks are like 2-3 games rather than 2-3 weeks as they are for Upton.

i think there's enough accumulated evidence now that we can look at his career averages and expect that to be about where he is at the end of the year.

No baseball player is reliable for a single game.  None of them.

The season is 162 games for a reason.  That's the sample size necessary in baseball.

Upton is "reliable" in that context.
