I know Justin has been slumping, but he may still be hurt after being hit on the hand from May 17th. I just looked up his stats since then: 5 hits and no homers. He knows he's very needed in the lineup so is playing with pain.

Swinging at pitches way out of the zone is his biggest problem. He also falls behind in the count way too often.

No but in seriousness, all I've seen from Upton is that he's bad at fielding, baserunning, and doesn't hit for a high avg.  All he does is hit the occasional HR. He is basically a right handed Valbunea.

Well he has played 83 games for us and has hit 18 home runs and 50 RBI with an OPS+ of 115.  He’s a lot better than you guys think he is.  I agree that his batting average is too low, but he has a good OBP.  If batting average is how you are going to judge him then you are choosing to not like him.  He is a guy that is streaky, but you know that.  He has some really good games and it is radio silience from his haters.  When he has a bad game or a bad at bat, you ladies start your chirping.  You truly don’t deserve good players.  Also calling him a disaster signing makes you look incredibly stupid, in my opinion.

Agree with most of this. 

 

The only thing I notice is the lack of hustle on some plays, I get it ... that’s the player he has always been it’s just weird, if you had that much talent why wouldn’t you bust ass on every play? Some of his plays in the outfield, and at bats are just puzzling.

He has definitely had some bad plays in the outfield.  I just think the dudes on here that hate on Upton have “reasons” they hate on him that are less about his performance.  Much like GA not getting his props while he was here.  They also had their mind set up on him about 5 minutes into the Angels acquiring him.

Yes and no. Upton is streaky. He’s the type of player that shits the bed in tight important games but hammers 4-6 home runs in one week when we’re already trailing by 16 games. It looks good on the back of his baseball card though.

I dont like how after he misplays a ball in the outfield instead of going after it and making sure the runner doesn't take an extra base(s), he just gives up on it and stands there with his thumb up his ass.

What I don’t like about Upton is that he has the best OPS+ from a left fielder we have had since 2003.
