All the Angel fans in the offseason talking about chasing JD Martinez to upgrade RF got hammered with:

--Don't need him, we got Kole!

--Too much money!

--No way, we need a lefty like Kole!  It would be a huge mistake to have another right handed hitter!

All I have to say is I am so, so glad the Angels wisely avoided being too right handed with that JD Martinez guy.

Dodged a bullet there.

Adding about $12m net to payroll and getting stuck with that right handed 1.000+ OPS would have really hurt.

He probably would be sucking right now if he was playing for the Angels. Fenway is a bandbox and so much easier to hit in than Angel Stadium for your home games.

He must be one of the must under-hyped players in baseball, along with Jose Ramirez, and quietly become one of the half a dozen or so best hitters in the game.

He's got the 6th highest wRC+ from 2015-18, and 3rd highest (after Trout and Judge) over the last two seasons.

It's because DH was taken between Cabrera and Martinez, and then no DH in Arizona.  His defense shows he's not a RF, but a DH ultimately.

Let's be real he would not be having as much success as he is now if he were wearing an angel uniform because that's just how it works being a fan of this team. If Upton signed with the Sox he'd be putting up career numbers.

I agree. Especially on Jose Ramirez. That guy won me my fantasy baseball league last year and I got him in a very late round.

Those late bloomer hitters are crazy. Bautista, JD, Nelson Cruz.....
