Kinsler and Valbuena

Recommended Posts

We seemed to have lost our dump those guys thread.  I was just looking at Baseball Reference and if you need any more validation that offense is down in Major League Baseball you can find it on Kinsler and Valbuena’s BR pages.  Both are at or above replacement level after there last two games.  Hell Kinsler might be a good week away from being a 1 WAR player.  This isn’t to validate them playing everyday, it just shows how truly awful hitting is these days.  Valbuena is what baseball is becoming, strike out, home run or walk.  Gross.

You can easily see that every team has watered down talent that’s causing baseball to lose its overall fanbase. With hockey, soccer, football and basketball there are more choices for everyone. There’s a reason why you can pick up a cheap useless bobblehead, plastic pancho, tote bag, t-shirt or hat at almost every Angels home game.

Yet Trout and Simmons are having career years.

Just a great example of what happens when players uses the whole field and not try to hit home runs every single times up at the plate. We don't see many of those guys anymore, which is one of the biggest reasons why statistics like batting average is down across the whole league.

I think sometimes people confuse "replacement level" and "average."  Replacement level is still awful.
