Here's some further material for your bunk, tdawg, and a gift to all. Here's yet another way to represent Trout's greatness:

this graphic could use a few labels to identify some of the players.

I started doing that but it quickly got messy and the main point was to show just how great Trout's been compared to the field. But I mistakenly didn't save the Excel sheet, but here's the top 40 (the next would have been too small to snip all 50):

Trout is currently at 71.1 fWAR for the season and assuming good health he should suprass 75 fWAR by the end of the year. That means Trout will have accrued 75+ fWAR through his age 27 season, the first to do so. According to Fangraphs, there are 42 position players with 75+ career fWAR. Here is the seasonal age they reached that number (retroactively, of course):

Season Age Position Player Reached 75 fWAR

27 (1): Trout (on pace)

28 (2): Cobb, Hornsby

29 (5): Ruth, Ott, Foxx, Mantle, A-Rod

30 (4): Speaker, Williams, Aaron, Pujols

31 (8): Collins, Gehrig, Musial, Mathews, Mays, Henderson, Bonds, Griffey Jr

32 (1): F Robinson

33 (5): Wagner, Kaline, Ripken, Morgan, Schmidt

34 (2): Lajoie, Yaz

35 (5): Connor, G Davis, DiMaggio, Brett, Bagwell

36 (5) : Brouthers, Frisch*, Clemente, Boggs, C Jones

37 (4): Gehringer, Rose, B Robinson, Beltre

38 (1): Dahlen

39 (1): Anson

*Frisch actually ended their careers below 75, dipping back below after reaching that mark.

What about 100 fWAR? We're a few years away, but something to consider. Here's the 20 position players with 100+ fWAR and the seasonal age they reached that mark:

Season Age Position Player Reached 100 fWAR

31: Cobb, Hornsby

32: Ruth

33: Gehrig, Foxx, Mantle, Mays, A Rod

34: Speaker, Ott, Musial, Aaron, Bonds

35: Wagner

36: Collins, Williams

37: Schmidt

38: Lajoie, Robinson, Henderson

If he stays healthy and continues performing at a 9+ fWAR rate, that means he'll surpass 100 fWAR in his age 30 season, the first to do so.

Nut away.

Here's something for your self-pleasuring. Top 20 players, all-time and active, in fWAR per 162 games played. It should be stated that many of the active players--including Trout--are higher than they'll be by the time they retire; the all-time guys include their total careers, including decline phase. Still, I would guess that Trout ends his career somewhere in the 8-9ish range, so top 10.
