A Salty Take on Albert Pujols

We have a team with Kinsler, Marte, Valbuena and Kole and we are complaining about Albert.

This.

Bert's disappointing but I think his OPS+ is above these guys combined. Bit exaggerated, but still. I think Albert's had some games that outproduced Kole's contributions on the season.

Hotter take: Albert is conspiring with Eppler to acquire veteran free agents like Kinsler, Valbuena, Young, etc, so that everyone forgets how useless he is.

On a serious note, it's going to get interesting when Thaiss starts knocking on the door, which at this rate could happen in the next couple of months. Hopefully we don't Cron him or trade him for some random reliever.

I think Thiass will be on the team.  Eppler drafted him.

It's time to move on from all of them. You can let Pujols finish the season out of "respect" for his career, but he should not be on the team next season. He's a negative win player and the money will be spent no matter what. We need a left handed bat in his spot in the order in order to be a true contender.

The other 4 you mentioned we can get rid of tomorrow morning and be better off

Arte needs to get serious about fielding a contender at some point or else Trout is gone. Tough decisions need to be made

In what capacity though? RF/3B? What I'd like to see happen starting next year is for Thaiss to be the full-time 1B with Albert playing DH on the 3 days that Ohtani doesn't bat. What I'm concerned will happen is that Thaiss will be relegated to the 3-day-a-week DH (and maybe one day at 1B). That'll just lead to the same issue we had with Cron except Thaiss is way better than Cron.

I dunno.  French is generally pretty gay.

Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

I'm just trying to do my part. Setting the table so you all can knock them down. Now that I think about it, I might be better at leadoff than Kinsler.

Albert Pujols is still a clutch, professional hitter who can hit elite pitching. Whether it is mental or physical, he has lost his consistency. He is best used as a pinch hitter. Especially in situations where double plays are not likely. Don't bring him in expecting him to hit a home run, but to drive in runs with good situational hitting.

Welcome to 2018. 2008 called, they want their HGH back.

(not saying I think that Pujols took roids. Just almost kinda sorta wishing he'd give them a shot.)

I have no idea, that’s up to Eppler and Arte.
