"You are getting sleepy. You will count out loud to ten, slowly, then be fast asleep, but still able to hear my every word."

"Good! You are now in the batter's box and ready to hit. The ball is coming out of the pitcher's hand. It's bigger than a beach ball. The ball is moving directly towards your bat. You can't miss it. You take a level swing and hit a hard line drive over the second baseman's head into right field. You run to first base. Your slump is over."

Are we allowed to curse on these forums? He needs to be taken down to minors then career ending there if he can’t improve. I knew he was going to be a useless bat the second time coming up with bases loaded and no one out. Should’ve just pinch hit and hurt his feelings. Get the point across.

I don't understand the decision to not pinch hit for neither him nor Rivera with the bases loaded. Why even have bench players if you aren't going to use them?

If you pinch hit for Rivera you have to use Graterol since Maldo is on bereavement leave. And with Kole, if you’re not letting him hit then there’s no point in him being in the lineup

And they go to the pen for a righty against Young. Neither matchup is scintillating but sticking with Kole you keep the better defender to protect the lead while giving him a chance against a lefty he’s hit before and maybe keep the lefty out there for Rivera coming up next

I bet if Kole Calhoun had zero major league track record, but had been good in the minors, and he was bad for 65 ABs, people would be saying “He just needs extended playing time. How is he supposed to learn?”

I am thinking of another guy with a career .197 average who many Angels fans just think didn’t get to play enough to prove himself.

As always, I appreciate your perspective. That said, Calhoun's slump goes back to last season and he just looks terrible right now. His track record is a slightly above average hitter but he's in an extended period where there is no sign of busting out. Have you seen anything that indicates he may break out of this?
