I'm hoping that there's a run on pitchers so we can grab India or Bohm but I know that's not gonna happen.

Hoping we can grab Adams in the 2nd.  I know a lot of people don't like him, but I think Seth Beer is going to be a great major league hitter.  I'd be cool with him in the 2nd round as well.

Isn't this kid supposed to play football for NC?

Yep -- same kid.      Word is he's been talking up his options with FB in order to drive up his signing bonus.  Not sure if he's heard it's not 2011 anymore and teams are much more married to slot $ than in the past, but he's made bonus money a topic of conversation.

Tremendous athlete, but I worry about guys who make getting paid as big of a deal as some have reported he has.

I don't follow the draft too closely. I know last year Adell was immediately ranked as a top 3 prospect in our system. Are there any guys we could draft this year that will even crack our top 10 before playing a professional inning?

This is a comment both on the strides our system has taken and on picking 17th instead of 10th.

Is that a misprint on Gilbert's WHIP?   0.40 doesn't seem possible.

Here are Logan Gilbert's stats according to baseball cube

0.80 WHIP then for Gilbert, very good WHIP it is.   Do they take the bigger potential of Kowar or Rolison, or the more refined command of Gilbert?

I feel like Gilbert is the guy the Angels take of the rest of their draft plan goes to crap before their pick is up. Meaning Rocker, Weathers, Adams, Kowar and McClanahan are all off the board.

Whose the best athlete with tools to develop from, in HS?

Today's MLB draft buzz suggests Kyler Murray was the best athlete in the 2015 draft before committed to OU for Football and Baseball.  Murray is the next QB behind (the Browns idiotic 1st pick of Mayfield) but the article suggests he could be lured into this year's draft.  Whether the Angels would want to take him at 17 if he's there...too risky or rewardy?

Have you guys heard that in addition to Jordyn Adams, we've been looking at Xavier Edwards and Brice Turang as position players?

Yes. And, we've taken a long look at Winn out of Orange Lutheran. I doubt that Winn will be available to us at 17, but, it would be a very nice pick if he is. I doubt that Edwards will be there in the second round, but, that would be a great pick if we could get him there.

I have to wonder how this year's draft affects us at the trade deadline and in the offseason. Imagine if we get another player like Marsh in the second round, or do extremely well with some pitching that we get. If, near the end of July, we are seeing some success, does that help make other prospects expendable to fix the parent club? Lots of possibilities . . .

Wasn't Turang originally thought a year ago to be a potential #1 overall pick in this draft?

One note to Jordyn Adams: the slotting system recently instituted has made it pretty much a no brainer for first round picks to sign.   Even if you move up say 12 spots 3 years from now, the money won't be that much more plus you sacrificed 3 years minor league development in the meantime.
