I generally disagree but know it's a personal preference thing. I've found that at worst, you're right, LA people don't care about SF, they have other things to worry about. To me that's better than believing that Hollywood is all LA is and has to offer, when SF folks love to preach the diversity of their neighborhoods. I went back to SF last year for first time in a while, was sad and couldn't believe how Market Street around Powell had turned into an Abercrombie ad. 

I may be biased about SD, though, did HS years there and hated how basically everything was 21+. So I'll back off that one.
