Calhoun's bat is colder than a pimp's heart

I posted this because when they were hitting lights out, Hinske was praised. When the stop hitting, Sosh gets the blame. Normal AW banter.

Scioscia's decision making is independent of how the team produces. He's doing things no differently when they win than when they lose. People blaming Hinske are just fucking with you. Only Scioscia has the ability to create that lineup and make pitching changes. If player x is shitting the bed, like Calhoun, then Scioscia is responsible for addressing that. If pitcher y is getting blown to bits on the mound or couldn't hit water if he fell out of a boat, its up to scioscia to rectify that. He seems to be incapable of making the necessary moves in a timely manner. He mails it in during April and May and then "focuses" in September with 2 weeks to go. The games now mean just as much as they do in September but he certainly doesn't coach that way. We need a manager with some heavy ass balls who is going to do what it takes to win year round and not look back on a season and say "well injuries sure did hurt us this year".

Its Eppler’s fault cause he wasn’t able to pull of the Calhoun for Stanton trade.

he's trying to hit the ball to the left side and beat the shift but it's messing with his head.  It's causing him to hit more grounders in general which is causing him to hit into the shift.  His hard hit ball rate is the highest it's ever been.  His LD rate is the same.  But his pull rate is down and his FB rate is way down.

He has zero pulled fly balls this season.  He's hit 14 fly balls.  35% to CF and 65% to LF.  That's crazy.

He need to go back to elevating the ball than worrying about the shift.

Calhoun is dumb and should be embarrassed with how teams are shifting against him and he hits right into it. Next team should have their 3rd baseman play 2nd and other two totally bunched in between him and then 1B just to embarrass him more. I thought major leaguers had talent to hit where they want?

What exactly has Scioscia done to "lead" us to any kind of record? The hitters mashed the first 2 weeks of the season. How can you give him credit when they hit but not give him blame when they don't? You really are delusional.

My point is if he gets blame then he should get credit.   Sorry you can’t understand anything due to being pretty dumb.  Have your wife explain this to you.  Ask her to speak slowly.   Good luck lil buddy.

I came to say the exact same thing. Only thing I'd add is that he's making the same amount of contact as usual, but less on balls in the zone and more on pitches out of the zone. Maybe putting what you said together with this he really is trying to beat the shift, but it's caused him to chase pitches away?

no one will take him for $12M next season so we're stuck with him, he does bring good defense in a potential 4th outfield role.

but we shouldn't sign a FA or make a trade for anyone beyond next year, our LF/CF is already big money and we have Adell/Marsh coming through in a 1-2 yr time frame.

I like using Calhoun/Jahmai Jones in a time share with Jones also sharing some 2B reps w/ a resigned Kinsler if he plays well in A+/AA this year, just for a year or so since we need to leave a place in the OF open of future commitments b/c Adell/Marsh could be knocking on the door by middle '18ish. Or get a stopgap OF for a 1 yr contract at $5-6M that can split some PT with Kole.

Trade Kole to the Lakers for Deng. Deng's legs should be well rested after the last 2 years. Could play effective defense at the rim of the track.

Calhoun is obviously more capable of what we've seen last year and this year. However, the difference this year  is if he struggles, he'll be replaced.

Hermosillo isn't some kid at Inland Empire, he's a kid in AAA that's producing. And if it isn't Herm, it's Liriano, Blash, Revere etc...

Basically this season is put up or shut up for Calhoun.
