it's not the managers fault.  it's in his contract that he can't hit below 4th.

Well in the first five years he couldn't hit below 3rd, in the sixth year he could bat no lower than 4th and starting in the 7th year he could bat no lower than 5th.  We will see what his contract looks like next year.

Jon Morosi of MLB.com reports that the Cardinals will release Greg Holland.

Holland cost the Cardinals $14 million and they had to forfeit a draft pick. In return, they got a 7.92 ERA over 32 appearances from the veteran reliever. Ouch. Holland should catch on elsewhere now that he can be had at the veteran minimum

Holland signs with the Angels in 3, 2, 1....

I laugh when the ONE guy Claude ever wanted to spend money on was Hosmer.

2018 Eric Hosmer WAR 0.2

2018 Angel first baseman WAR  -1.3.

Dollars per WAR might not be that far off if you factor in Pujols/Valbuena salaries versus Hosmer's 21 mil. But Hosmer's is probably higher.

Pujols has a 1 WAR.   He’s been better than Hosmer.
