Louisville Slugger's pink bat deal with MLB blocks all other bat manufacturers from putting their labels on pink bats.

LOL at "donation". They basically bought the rights. This is wrong on so many levels.

Wrong as in without the exclusive rights they don't put millions into breast cancer research or wrong as in the other bat companies can't profit from their bat logo being seen in connection to the cause without tossing in any of their own profits.

 

Look, the entirety of baseball is monetized. Without money breast cancer research stalls out. So Louisville decided they can capitalize on the good will aspect of donations while improving their image through a collective deal with MLB. Makes sense to me as it is a win/win kind of contract.

 

The consumer cost for the product doesn't change and breast cancer research gets funded. This is passive philanthropy and capitalism combined that profits everyone.
