A's are offering free admission and parking for their April 17th game vs. the WhiteSox in celebration of their 50th anniversary in Oakland.

j j Pretty good chance they still don't sell out

The stadium will be filled to capacity. There are plenty of welfare recipients in Oakland that will take advantage of that deal. Just need to get to a Bart Station.

They cannot afford the Bart fare.

Every time I go to an Angels game against the A's, I get harassed.  Just a bunch of trashy Raider fans wearing green and gold in the offseason.

I once was threatened to be stabbed by a guy with a neck tattoo because Trout hit a HR and I started chanting MVP.

A couple innings later, the guy with the neck tattoo got into a fist fight with another fan (this one an A's fan) and they had to be separated, but none were escorted out for some reason.  Literally the next inning, the same neck tattoo guy jumped over the wall and ran out onto the field.

The police were not gentle with him.

I have to admit, i have been there several times, and only had one unpleasant encounter.  Even that was not threatening, just a drunk being a moron.

I was abused worse verbally by Dodger fans in Anaheim for wearing Angel gear.  I think that was in 02 interleague, maybe with red, hubs, disar.

Another time in Oakland a teenager slapped me in the face with a foam finger after the game. I took it from him and ripped it in front of his friends. They started acting like this was going to be a fight until one of the police officers told them to move along.

Then another time my wife and I had a law enforcement officer volunteer to walk us to our cars because people were being robbed at gun point on the way to their cars that week.

We just don't go there anymore.

Meanwhile I go to Angel Stadium and my battery dies and I have multiple people volunteering to jump the car.

Giants, Padres and Rockies still have the nicest fans I think. Every time I go to those parks it's a positive experience.

We exited the freeway a couple miles north of the colosseum to eat before a 1:05 game in oakland.  Boston market or something.  About '03.  Stupid me didnt know where i was.  Watched a car get destroyed by dude with hoody and ice pick.  All 4 tires and windshield.  People just watching. Wife asked if we should call police.  Nope.   Of course, i still ate there.

The one game I went to in Oakland was a good experience. They were playing the Rangers, not the Angels but from parking lot to seats everyone was pleasant and happy to be at a game.

Probably about 12k at the stadium and they lost to the Rangers but nobody got agro. They just packed up their party to the BART and left. We were one of the few that drove.

What cracked me up is the fans hauling twenty hot dogs at a time, they were $1 a piece. They also had the root beer floats for diabetes stand, just a little irony.

We walked the entire stadium during the game, it's old, not great but with better owners (not those cheap ass bastards) the stadium could be improved but they just doesn't draw, even during their winning years, so why bother.

Been to that stadium, checked it off the list and doubtful I will every go again.

I've been to the Coliseum a few times and have never really had any issues there. Moved to the Sacramento area in 2016 so the Coliseum is obviously the closest stadium for me to see a road game. Went to opening day last year, and didn't have any issues at all. Just some light ribbing, there was a decent amount of Angel fans there. They also retired Rickey's number before the game, which was cool.

My wife had never been there before. When we got off the freeway and could just barely see the edge of the coliseum off in the distance, I pointed to it and sarcastically said "There's the stadium, isn't it beautiful!?". She thought I was kidding. "Wait, that big ugly concrete thing is really the stadium!? Seriously!?". There was also a huge banner hanging on the side of the stadium that said "WELCOME TO THE HOME OF"....the rest of the banner was blank. I should have taken a picture of that.

I also went to the Coliseum back in 2008 with a buddy of mine. It was a getaway day game and the stadium was practically empty. We were sitting like 10 rows from the field up the first base line. My buddy got TWO foul balls that day, both of them landed way up above us and just rolled down the steps to us because there was no one there to grab them. Good times.
