ISIS has been calling for this sort of attack for some time. There is also an unconfirmed report they were warning Muslims online to stay away from large public gatherings.

There's so much floating around, who the hell knows? I trust Homeland Security and the authorities to get to the bottom of this.

Just found out my buddy I went to Vegas with 3 weeks ago had 3 friends at the concert and 1 of them got shot in the leg but at least he's alive.

I wonder how they pinned down where this guy was? Firstly, vegas rooms usually dont have balconies, or even open windows. Second, just from looking up at one, in the dark, it would be tough to spot one guy. So youd figure people in adjoing rooms heard the shots? Maybe cameras at the casino?

Think about how many people at least initially had no clue and were just hanging in the casino while it was happening right above them.

man, im sure some of the old ladies working the slot machines still have no idea wtf is going on.  have you seen how locked in they get !?

He had shot out at least one window, so it would be easy to know which room he was shooting from.

I'm tempted to call BS on the ISIS thing. It's too convenient of a diversion from the real issue of gun control in the US.

do we think he was trying to get away ? seems like the guy was just gonna kill as many people as possible.  he could have set off the alarm to slow down the cops.

As a cop, i cant even fathom a situation like this. Kind of like 9/11, obviously smaller scale.

Figure the traffic getting in is brutal. And you dont set up in "the hot zone". (Shooter is active so no set up anyway, just go). But the hot zone is accross the street. So youre dealing with basically two scenes. Id imagine theres a gap between "people getting shot at concert", and "wait, the shooter is over there."

So then the guys who go to the hotel have to account for approaching the room (like 100 on each floor at least) while locking down the elevators so the shooter cant leave. 

Run out of people far too quickly. 

People begging for help, cant do anything for them. 

Sad as hell.

I've already seen something about Google elevating fake news stories from 4chan in their search results, which said the shooter was a leftist extremist. So it'll probably be a lot more of that, or blaming it on ISIS.

Right, the NRA doesn't really need to do anything.  Their people will mobilize no matter what.

Remember, the NRA even blocks our government from researching whether or not there is anything that could stop gun violence.

While other terrorist groups certainly have, apparently from the experts say, that isn't really the case for ISIS.  These groups are hardly homogeneous and certainly someone may have lied. But it's too early to dismiss it either.

Maybe...but again, looking up at 50 some odd stories, in the dark, and having to count (in the dark) how many windows over from the left or right is tougher than it sounds.

Flood the elevators with people going down instead of coming up, too.

As for the isis thing, who knows. But at least from the looks of this guy, he looks more of the "i hate muslims" than "i hate infidels" type.

This story, early on, was based on information that Marilou Danley, the "girlfriend" of the shooter, is allegedly the estranged wife of MoveOn activist Geary Danley. So Danley was misidentified as the gunman. 4chan has been wrong on countless occasions about a lot of things.

According to the press conference.  He had a window breaking hammer to break out the windows.  So this tells me this wasn't a whim type of attack.  This was a planned attack.

of course it was...he had a room perfect for this attack, high up with a clear view of a well publicized event. He brought in a friggen arsenal and built a machine gun nest, and if reports are to be believed had cameras to monitor when police arrived at his location.
