Dumbshits.  They should be forced to pick up trash and plant trees on the forest lands for 36 years.

Couple charged in California fire sparked by gender reveal party

That's the one that I took pictures of

They could have done it in the parking lot, plenty of room

But they did it in the dry brush area

What were they thinking?

Mother Fuckin Mike Trout, you aren't doing anything right now.  Replace all these dumbshit weather forcasters.  It was supposed to be overcast and in the low 80's today in Sierra Madre, and in the 70's at Mt. Wilson.  Which for summer is great weather to hike in.  And this is a forecast from yesterday, not a week ago, not a few days ago, god damn yesterday.

No, the dumbshits were all useless and fucking retarded.  It was not overcast at all.  it was 95 in Sierra Madre, and 88 on Mt. Wilson.  I got a 6 AM start, so avoided the heat for about 3/4 of the way up.  But that 1/4 was just punishing.  And the way down was no picnic.

And yet on the way down, there were still people going up in the middle of the day.

Yeah, I'm also a dumbshit for completing it.  I was thinking about turning around at 3/4.  But 1.8 miles from the summit that I needed to complete my 6 pack of peaks for this year.  This is how hot it was.  Last time I did it, drank a liter of water.  Today.  2 liters going up.  1 liter at the summit.  2 liters going down.  Luckily the cafe was open at the summit, and I was able to fill my water up there.  I've never gone through 5 liters on a hike before.  3 is usually what I carry on hard hikes, and usually only go through 2.

@Redondoshould check out their peaks.  They seem to have an Arizona Summer and Arizona Winter peak list.

It'll at least give you an idea at what peaks are out there also.  Don't need to sign up with them, unless you want your name on the finishers tshirt.

  • 2 weeks later...

So back from a weeklong vacation in No Cal, glamping.  Of course, wandering and exploring got me a nice bit of poison oak on me.  /sigh.  Here are some pics.

If youa re ever in Lockeford, check out their sausage place.  Had the Italian hots and the tri tip, and it was so good.  Had to wait in an hour line, and was worth it.

This is pretty much the campsite, or at least the relics and stuff within the campsite.  Great thing about this place is, no cell reception, no wifi, minimal electricity, but they do sell stuff like ice, have a public freezer.  Have a grill and bar.  But it's a private camp, so tours are the only visitors we get all week.

Here is the video of the trip.  @Lhalo  Yeah, first 5 days of the trip, crystal clear skies, hot as hell.  As a matter of fact, the night before, I was able to stargaze and see a shooting star.  Then the next day, the smoke came over, and the temperature dropped.  It's weird watching the video, as you can tell when the smoke arrived.  The videos got a red tint to them, and only when under trees did the tint go away.

My parents own a place about 5 miles from Lockeford in Lodi. The Hawaiian Lua sausage is really good. The wife and daughter went up there last week and brought a bunch of stuff back

Wow. This is definitely a place I’ll have to take the kids to when they’re a few years older.

We did a fake panning for rocks in Mammoth a few weeks back and my son won’t stop talking about it. If I take him up there and he finds real gold, it’s going to take an army to drag him away from the water haha.

Definitely a great place to take kids and parents.  Very casual atmosphere where the kids run around without the parents worrying.  It also disconnects everyone from the real world.  No tv, internet, etc.  As for gold, buy a pile of dirt for $350.  You won't find $350 in gold from it, but you will find probably $200-250 in gold.  But you get to work the dirt, so it's a good introduction to gold panning.  It's also great for those getting up in age that can't get to the river and pan like they used to.

Between that, playing in the water, and possibly fishing.  This year the kids were going nuts on catching crawdads.

WTF?  I have so many questions now.  Carbon Monoxide in the middle of a forest/river.

Family of 3, pet dog found dead in remote Sierra National Forest hiking area, deputies say

Quote

There was no clear cause of death, prompting authorities to treat the area as a hazmat scene, said Kristie Mitchell, a spokeswoman with the sheriff’s office. “It could be a carbon monoxide situation. That’s one of the reasons why we’re treating it as a hazmat situation,” she said.
