Can Cron play LF?

I always want the very best players but reality sets in and you have to make stuff work sometimes not having the perfect pieces.

Can Cron play left?  This assumes he can hit enough to help the team.  We have that question if he plays first also.

I am just wondering because if he could play left the Angels could pursue Hosmer and also use Thaiss in a trade to address another need.

Has anyone ever heard anything about Cron as potentially moving to left field, which frankly is the easiest position on the field to play?

Cron can play LF the same way Trumbo can play 3B

I get your point but I think your statement is probably as close to perfectly incorrect as possible.

Trumbo stunk at 3B.  Cron probably would stink at 3B too.

Trumbo can survive in the OF and Cron probably could too.

No, Trumbo is a better athlete than Cron and is still pretty putrid defensively in the OF. He had a -2.1 dWAR out there last year in 95 games played

You're talking about putting a guy with limited mobility into a position he hasn't played since probably high school or maybe college. Trumbo at least was getting some reps in the OF in the minors I believe here and there - and he's still a liability out there

All I'm saying is left field for 2018 may again look like a black hole.

If the Angels can't secure an impact bat for LF, I am open to this discussion.  Cron might be able to give the Angels their best production in OF in how many years?

It's not my first choice.  Im just saying they threw Brian Downing out there aftrt a nasty ankle injury and he was more than fine.  There is no reason why Cron couldn"t catch fly balls and get the ball into the infield.
