Using the 160 million payroll argument is stupid and always will be stupid when evaluating how the team performs.  A big chunk of that 160 million is being paid to vernon wells so he can play for the Yankees.  Another big chunk is being paid to Weaver while he sits and watches, and most is being paid to two players who are stinking it up.....Pujols and Hamilton.

 

The high payroll, poor performance only means the team has made some very bad signings.
