Time is up on Morin

Recommended Posts

He has a 5.19 era in his last 100.2ip at the major league level.  Yet his FIP is 3.51.  Why?  he strikes guys out.  Problem with FIP is that it doesn't take into account how hard a ball is hit unless it leaves the yard.  Treats every ball in play the same.

Morin has been fairly bad for almost 3 years now.  His change up is good but it's something a major league hitter has shown to recognize.  His slider and fastball are well below avg pitches that need to be locate perfectly to be effective and even if they are, they still have a chance to get his hard because he's doesn't throw with substantial velocity.

He's got value equivalent to near the bottom of the 40 man roster.  With our injuries, he's probably 45th to 50th actually.  Certainly one of the bubble guys to be DFA'd along with Nolan Fontana, Damien Magnifico, Vicente Campos, Brooks Pounders, and Daniel Wright.
