Trade Target for 2B: Scooter Gennett

The 27-year old hit 4 HR's and drove in 10 runs tonight. 

I'd love for the Halos to make a deal for him for the 2B spot. 

I don't think he'll cost a lot (after his 4-homer night wears off). 

Thoughts?

When I hear the name Scooter, I think of a guy about 5'7" who drops down a bunt and is standing on third base by the time you pick up the ball, not a guy who hits four homers in a game.

if the angels trade for him, his season totals would be 6 homers and 17 rbi.

He actually made some sense this past offseason as a guy who could be acquired for very little and at least be a bench piece. I still think he is a bench piece, even after his 4 HR night. He provides a little bit of pop and can handle righties but he has a flawed approach at the plate and rates poorly defensively. Although, I'm curious to see what he does moving forward after this performance. It's really hard to fluke this kind of game.

I'll take a .300 average and 7 bombs over what Espinosa/Pennington have provided. 

I'm guessing the Reds will want a starting pitcher in AAA with promise for Gennett.

Right before his offensive onslaught, I think he was 0-19 or something. We'd probably get that guy.

His performance tonight was 99.99% luck, 0.01% skill. Stay away from him because he is a below average player who happened to had fluke big game.

He was a fan favorite in Milwaukee.  Always one of my favorite players when I went to games.  I was bummed when they released him.  Dude plays the game really hard.

With that said, this was a total fluke.

Now that somebody named Scooter has had his 5-for-5, 4-bomb, 10-RBI career, er, game, my thought is: "Why the heck didn't the Wonder Dog ever do that for the Halos?" Or Johnny? Mark Whiten did it once for somebody. Hambone did it just before he pulled his Moreno bank heist.

Whatever Billy Eppler does, I hope he DOESN'T hire this "has-been for 5 minutes" named Scooter.

At least wait until the 4 HRs delirium has worn off (mid-July?).   If he is still hitting decently enough and fielding decently enough, then inquire about him.
