Otis Nixon Was Busted For Drugs

Recommended Posts

assume he's not looking much better these days than his playing days........

he was always in the running for ugliest player award......

the classic baseball card of the pitcher for the old Kansas City Athletics and Otis Nixon were usually 1-2.

trying to think of the A's pitcher's name -- the visual of his baseball card still haunts the memories of Topps cards collectors everywhere.

A one-tool player (and a young man's skill at that) who parlayed that into a career that was much longer than it needed to be. John Schuerholz inexplicably brought him back to the Braves after they had cut him for lack of production, and he proceeded to have the lowest batting average in all of baseball, helping Jeff Reardon kill the Braves in the 1992 World Series (if there was a manager more enamored with washed up veterans than Mike Scioscia, it was Bobby Cox). He made the last out in the deciding game against Toronto, trying to bunt his way on with two out in the bottom of the ninth, bunting neatly back to the pitcher when he absolutely had to reach base. One great catch in his first year in Atlanta, and that was about it.

Not really surprised at this.

Don Mossi -- I think that was the name of the KC A's pitcher I was trying to think of.

member of the All Time All Ugly team.

I had a Don Mossi baseball card years ago. Incredibly ugly dude. One player described him as looking "like a taxicab with all the doors open."
