The California beach where the U.S. Open of Surfing is taking place this weekend was also the site of a fatal officer-involved shooting Saturday. 

Police in Huntington Beach who were called to the scene on a report of "a suspicious man with a gun" ultimately shot and killed the suspect, who was described as "an adult Hispanic man," a police statement said.

Mankind started pissing standing up about 3 million years ago.

Started agriculture about 10,000 years ago.

First written language about 5,000 years ago.

The industrial revolution started about 1720. 

Since then pollutants rise in exponential scale with coal burning factories, oil based energy and population increases that demand far more resources in one year than nearly the entire history of mankind previously.

So, yeah only a couple hundred years of data since nobody was en masse fucking with the earth's biosphere for billions of years prior. But over the last 200 years of recoded data, billions of people are exhausting resources akin to a flesh eating bacteria that is eventually going to kill the host. Some of these resources is actually our life sustaining atmosphere. 

Its almost biblical in tragic proportions. But you do like a good ending to a story, don't you? The one where greed causes a downfall and all are swept away, the saints and sinners alike.
