I hope he isn't eligible until closer to July 1. This seems like the type of prospect that might want to wait until the Red Sox and Yankees are back in the mix. This is also the kind of prospect we need in our system to make it better. Even if he's just Yoan Moncada or Yasiel Puig, a young OF that can play next to Trout for years would be awesome.

If he signs after july 1, it will cost him millions of dollars.  up to 20 mil.  If he waits its because he wants to play for the yanks or sox or if he's not cleared till then, everyone will have about the same amount of bonus money to spend so he's not likely to pick us if the playing field is even.    It's a bummer, but we have very little chance here.  At least he can't sign with the cubs or dogs.
