Here is another peanut opportunity!

Recommended Posts

I haven't been here through most of the offseason as it was not too active, but now that ST games are back, I am excited.

Some from the old hood were here Elgibra & Bobby in the gameday threads as well as others.

Some of the very good posters have not resurfaced unfortunately.  I saved their Screen names, and can reach them through the Texas Rangers MLB Board which passes the messages through to them to their Email accounts.  One of the Rangers posters was also an Angels poster and he is very supportive of this.  I am surprised that some of the best and active posters have not surfaced here such as Angel Graffiti and Octops in particular.

Excuse me for being as dumb as a legume, but what exactly IS a peanut? And why the descriptor, "clean"?

It refers to the Halos player acquisition approach over the past couple of years, looking to find hidden gems (like looking for clean peanuts in piles of peanuts).   Eppler has had some solid success with that strategy (Marte, Ramirez, D. Guerra, etc.).   It also helps to keep the payroll under enough control under Hackilton's contract especially is off of the books after 2017.

Hence, the "clean peanut" reference

oh, that's frickin' adorable. yeah, clean peanuts in a pile of peanuts, that's the ticket.

just in case i'm not coming in loud and clear, it's trying to find a clean peanut in a pile of shit. in this case, the pile of shit would be the bottom of the player barrel we're sifting through.

I always thought the clean peanut reference was actually finding undigested peanuts in a pile of crap.  If that's not the case, then I've got some issues I need to address.

Angel Oracle,

How have you been?

I didn't want to post this but since you brought up Hamilton I just read this on the Rangers Board

According to T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com, Josh Hamilton has been hitting thunderous bombs in batting practice at Rangers camp.

Batting practice is one thing, but once the major league breaking balls start coming, it's a different story.

I don't wish evil on anyone, but it would be nice not to hear his name anymore. What a disaster he proved to be to this team and its fortunes.

he's a **** of a human being, and it's not because of what he did or didn't do between the lines of a baseball diamond. anything bad that comes his way will have been of his own design and not bad fortune.

you got it right when you said, it would be nice not to hear his name anymore. people like him poison the well of my mind, and i take that very personally.

It's all good, thank you.    Knowing that Hackilton's contract is done in 8 more months brings a smile to me.

AceRichards is on here and I made the move too. But yea, a lot of guys didn't switch over.

AceRichards was supportive to me mid summer 2015 when my parents were both having serious medical issues and MLBDiamond was the liver transplant guy. Then there was WilliamBonney aka Billy the Kid.

I really miss Octops ( His Favorite month & Favorite Stat ).  I communicated with him yesterday.  I encouraged him to add his erudite personna over here.

He says that he has been over here & has been monitoring, so hopefully he surfaces.

Good to hear.  Hamilton's contract sunsets after this season.  I didn't see him coming, but Arte wanted to win and take him away from the Rangers.

The one that I knew was a fiasco was the Vernon Wells ( worst contract in MLB at the time ) deal for Mike Napoli.  That was a double whammy.

Oh, I liked Octopus. Isn't he the guy who was always johnny-on-the-spot with the starting lineups, like hours before game time?

I dont miss Angel Graffitti one bit, truthfully. We used to battle royally.

Octops & I shared posting the lineup duty which I needed to check for my fantasy league lineup.  He also posted baseball trivia contests which I enjoyed.

Angel Graffiti was always argumentative and opinionated on the Board but an astute Angels fan.  He is friendly with a Hollywood celebrity who is in his fantasy league and he was on the fantasy baseball Sirius XM radio show and was very good.  Respectful over the radio quite a different person on the radio.  He was passionate about his positions.

Then of course there was Charles who went off the religious deep end and wanted the Angels to hire him as the GM. He kept predicting the rapture for July 1, 2015 but the only thing that happened was DiPoto leaving.

Justin was a bad memory who was out of control.  He used to stalk Sue who called Peter Bourjos her son.  After PBJ was traded she fell for Puig and migrated over to the Dodgers Board.

Justin was always banned but he would create new screen names to post but he would always give himself up by stalking Sue.  Sometimes you weren't sure if it was Justin or a copycat.

Batting practice is indeed not the same as facing ML pitching.

Hamilton & Napoli will be seen soon in Texas ST games and if he is healthy, Hamilton probably makes their 25 man roster or he can opt out I believe. Not sure how this will end.  To be continued.

Hopefully in an overdose
