Angels Official Website: Fryer: Mike Napoli with Rangers is Angels' worst nightmare

Recommended Posts

Hopefully this is the year that guy finally falls flat. Would love to see a flailing Mike Napoli cost the Rangers millions while pissing away a roster spot for a better part of the year because he's a vet. Would be so, so poetic. I hope Hamilton rakes in ST, causes them to DFA a useful prospect to make room for him on the 40-man, and then immediately piss away that roster spot too by being hurt every other week.

Still a good signing ... not liking him in the West.

What's up with a Gallo or Profar?

We'll see how he holds up. He's right at a 100 OPS+ past two seasons, and that's with playing time in hitter's parks like Arlington and Boston. Dude struck out 194 times last year, and has never been a beacon of good conditioning. 35 years old, and I think he has some sort of degenerative hip condition. His days are numbered.

Those two are strange to me honestly. I get the feeling that Texas isn't too high on Gallo and Profar has been in recovery from his injuries for so long that other players have taken his spots making him a backup or a trade chip (there was a rumor the Rays were considering him for 2B recently).
