Ricketts Says He'll Move Cubs

Recommended Posts

This is how it will go down...

Frustrated with an abysmal 2013 season and angered by the thought of watching the two power hitters he still owes one third of a billion dollars to, hit fly balls to the warning track, Arte says #*%$ the marine layer, opts out of his deal with the city of Anaheim and moves the team to Vegas.

Unwilling to give up his nice house and late night pasta dinners at Mama Cozza's in Anaheim, Scioscia also opts out of his deal and leaves the team.

Seeing an opportunity and an upgrade in stadiums, Ricketts moves the Cubs to Anaheim and they become the California Cubs. Their new mascot looks a lot like a cuter version of the California Golden Bear State Seal.

Scioscia is offered the position of manager of the Cubs and doesn't think twice about taking it as he will once again be reunited with pitchers hitting, the double switch and small ball. He hires Mark Langston as the pitching coach and Salmon has the hitting coach.

In a simple twist of fate, Moreno hires Ryne Sandberg as the new manager of the Las Vegas Angels. Because of his love of grit, he hires Ersty as bench coach.

Both teams thrive in their new new environments until they finally meet in the 2017 World Series. The series goes to game 7 when right before first pitch, North Korea finally gets "The Bomb" and all Hell breaks loose. After a brief skirmish, the dust settles and the deciding game 7 is played in the middle of December.

Many of us now belong to not only Angelswin, but Cubswin and our loyalties and hearts are truly divided. Many of us are comparing our split loyalties to Civil War era families that had soldiers who fought for both Union and Confederate armies.

The teams are so evenly matched that they are tied at 2 going into the middle of the 7th inning.

As a sign of solidarity and sportsmanship, the ghosts of both Harry Caray and Gene Autry descend from the heavens and sing "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" and because it is so close to Christmas, "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer" as well. There is not a dry eye in the house.

Still tied at two in the bottom of the 9th, Hamilton, who is now batting 9th and is possibly making his final appearance as an Angel strikes out on three off speed pitches low and away (one actually missing the catchers mit and winds up going into the stands hitting a retired player turned racecar driver CJ Wilson in the face. He will never be seen as pretty again. Spedey Petey Borjous hits a triple and with one out, the aptly nicknamed Jaba the Trout waddles to the plate. Showing that he has a sense of humor about his weight, Trout uses music from the popular Star Wars Franchise as his walk up music and the crowd chants "Jaba Jaba Jaba".

He works the count to 3-1 and on the next pitch hits a slow grounder to second, putting it in high gear Borjous breaks for the plate, the throw is late and the Vegas Angels take the series. Ironically, Scioscia loses the World Series to THE CONTACT PLAY. We later find out that he drowns in a rich marinara sauce.

In related news, this World Series get the lowest ratings in 12 years.

This is how it will be, As it is said.

They were the Los Angeles Angels when -get this- they shared a stadium with the Dodgers and actually played in Los Angeles! Once they moved out of LA to their current stadium in Anaheim 1966 they were the California Angels, then the rest from there. The name change has done nothing but caused confusion and created something to laugh about. Most of the general public thinks it makes no sense, and even broadcasters around the league have a hard time getting it right!

and it has.  Problem solved.

...thanks to a World Series title before the name change was even put in place.

That name change is sure doing a lot of help now!

About as much help as the revenue from a new scoreboard at Wrigley Field will do.

Nice to see there are still people willing to protest on Orangewood and State College. We will see you out there this home stand, right?

And for your information they were the California Angels when they played in Dodgers stadium in 1965.
