Both of these guys throw in the mid-90's so perhaps Eppler takes a flyer on one.... Adams strikes me as a better choice if Billy decides to grab one. Besides it would allow us to corner the market on Austin Adams'.

They actually did it, interesting. Bummed Deolis was put on the sacrificial altar though, hope he stays in the organization.

By the way there are two primary reasons the Angels did this:

1) Adams mid-to-upper 90's fastball velocity because higher velocity generally results in higher strikeouts

2) In 2016 Austin threw 35 sliders and 2 fastballs that exceeded 2500 revolutions per minute (RPM, i.e. spin rate) which is an emerging data point that GM's around the League are targeting. In comparison Guerra only had one changeup the entire season that crested 2500 rpm.

This is simply about the potential of the player despite the lackluster MLB results to date.

Notably in 2016, Austin used both his slider and changeup to effectively get outs versus LHP, particularly in whiffs (28.5% and 20.6% whiffs, respectively). The slider he has is plus and if he can continue to develop and utilize his changeup and sinking fastball he will have better MLB results further down the road.
