Just bought two tickets to the game (section 20) against the Cubs on Monday the 6th ... $93 after all the fees. Yikes! It doesn't feel like that long ago when seats behind the plate were about $25 each.

Well it's the cubs

They definitely are doing tiered pricing. The game on the day before against the Reds "only" cost $53 for two tickets in the same section. Still, I'm out $146 for tickets alone.

I remember going to ST in 2013 (I believe) and decided I wanted to see the Giants play in Scottsdale, since they had just won the WS. The previous regular season "dynamic pricing" had reared it's ugly head, but I never thought it would make it's way into ST so quickly.

WRONG!

LAWN SEATING was 30.00. Mind you, lawn seating is really not seating at all. It's the right to walk around in the grass area and maybe throw a blanket down. They didnt allow lawn chairs as some ridiculous "potential weapon" or some such excuse.

I havent tried to see a game in Scottsdale since.

Even "lawn seating" is a minimum of 10 dollars most everywhere. We still pay it and walk around, have an expensive beer or two, eat some greasy food and we're gone by the time the scrubs are in the game.

But it is often easy to sit in empty seats down the lines. Very little enforcement at MOST stadiums. Especially in areas with direct sun.

No, ST is not cheap anymore. Even the Motel 6 in Scottsdale is 100.00/night, NOT INCLUDING WIFI. But it is a great location for walking Scottsdale Blvd and hitting the restaurants and bars.

Gonna start another thread on bars, restaurants, lodging in AZ for ST.  We could find some hidden gems.

My wife and I are skipping spring training this year.

Putting our money towards to watch them a week in June in New York then Boston after that. I'm pretty pumped

I know it's a good thing that Spring Training has picked up in popularity, but I miss the days when it wasn't so crowded and expensive.

I refuse to go to the Angels place in Tempe. There is no place more unpleasant to be when it's crowded. The lines at the concession stands make it really difficult to get past on crowded games.

I just go see the Angels at all the good parks like Camelback, Maryvale, Talking Stick, the new Cubs place, etc.

I agree with this 100%. Arte seems to have trouble fixing stadiums.

Tempe Diablo Stadium is terrible.

Considering everything.... the increased cost, huge crowds, crappy Angels ballpark... lack of breweries and restaurants... etc.   I can see myself skipping Spring Training soon.  Wasnt sure thatd ever be the case.
