There are five teams fighting for the second wild card spot, and Houston is one of them.

The talk in the local papers is these games are "must win" for them.

Let the Mariners and Astros worry about the Mariners and Astros. Let's sweep the Astros. Then Houston can sweep Seattle starting on Monday. Root for the Twinkies for a couple of more days against Seattle.

Protected pick is pretty safe, unless either Colorado or the ChiSox totally tank and lose pretty much every remaining game.   Might as well create any kind of momentum to take into the off-season.

Scioscia raved before the game about the Garrett Richards BP session Thursday. He sounded almost as giddy as you can imagine Mike Scioscia would ever get. (Admittedly not a giddy guy.) But he was enthusiastic about the progress. He said something about Nagy joking GR could have gone a couple of innings last night. Whatever he said, it looks like Richards is ready for the fall league rehab.

Meyer is looking solid, aside from the one Correa at bat.

Meyer starts the sixth at 70 pitches (42 strikes), allowing 3 hits, 1 walk and a run.

But single and E-5 puts an Astro on second for Altuve.

Altuve breaks his bat on a ground out and Curriel is stuck at second.

Perez set the glove a foot outside and Meyer hit it. WHY would Perez do that?
