I don't understand this trade at all.

What's not to understand? They traded Santiago for a young cost controlled pitching prospect that everyone here wanted. Nolasco was the equalizer on this deal. The team needed a pitcher who can eat innings for the remainder of the season. He will also only cost us $8M in 2017 ... which made the trade more favorable.

Meyers has plenty of upside potential but there's risk involved as is with any pitching prospect. He's a ready now pitcher ... which I like.

I'm not sure what everybody expected for Santiago ... a cost controlled pitching-prospect, maybe?

Keeping fingers crossed on this trade.

Btw you have to believe Eppler was looking to trade with a contender ... which would of netted us something better. Doesn't seem like the market for Santiago was that strong.

Rangers add pieces. Hell even the Cubs and Indians add pieces.  Those teams used to be laughers   All of them

Yankees scored 9 prospects via trade.

We just keep spinning our wheels in our busted ass Pinto in the desert going nowhere.

We always get a rock, just like Charlie Brown. The other teams get the large size candy bars.

The least you could've done was put oil in it. It overheated in Barstow.

I told you, go up the 101, LOL.  But then again you might have ran into the car chase today.  True story, some bozo from Canoga Park led police on a 2+ hour 90 mph chase from there to West LA, then south down the 405 to North County San Diego.  He had a Lincoln Navigator, and finally ran out of gas, (duh probably getting about 8 mpg at that speed).  Last time he drives a car for at least a year, maybe much longer.  That's a felony with jail time.

At no point is the GM allowed to make moves that would indicate any sort of concession for the following season.  We play to win every year.  Season ticket holders are much easier to keep than they are to find.  We will make moves this off season which will, again, make us to maybe, kinda, sorta competitive if everything goes right.

It's all about perception.  We will never create one that makes fans think we are not playing to make the playoffs.

What team are you watching?

So much for the haul of prospects that we were supposed to get in a seller's market for a starting pitcher. We had to cut a deal with one of only two teams in the league with a worse record - not a contender - which drove the price down, IMO. I really don't get this.

You got older and worse by making this trade it's that simple. If this is Arte than Eppler should have never taken the job if you can't do your job bail. Eppler couldn't create enough of a deal that he had to go trade with the Twins for an older pitcher and a guy who hasn't pitched since May who's because of a shoulder injury who's 26. Yep sounds like he really worked that sellers market
