Trade Deadline Thread

What sucks about Santiago is that even though he had that "Ervin Santana - Ramon Ortiz" disease where one day he would pitch like Pedro Martinez, and then he would pitch like Joe Blanton, he was young, and also a great clubhouse and community guy. Unless Meyers pans out this is a shitty trade.

Almost seems like Eppler was more concerned about getting 2 pitchers that are "able" to pitch in the Majors next year than anything worth a damn.

Trade further proves that notion that Arte is completely done spending.

And yes using the term "able" above is being generous considering one is always hurt and the other blows

Not even a top 30 prospect for the Cubs. Glad to see were getting garbage for smith and Santiago while the Brewers for a top prospect for will fucking smith.

Smith's got a year of control still -- and let's be honest...... he's better than Joe Smith.   This is better than the return on Downs a couple years ago.  I can understand being chapped at the Santiago trade but, this isn't a bad return for Smith.

Getting money back from the Twins, of all people, proves that...

Honestly -- seems like getting back UNDER the cap was at play...   Being under this year means if they go over next year they won't face bigger penalties.  Not that it matters, I think you guys are right and Arte is keeping his checkbook holstered.

Yeah, it's like the concern was filling the 2017 rotation which is a downright f**king absurd thing to view as a priority.
