I would've MUCH rather seen Jerome here (and ready to take the game another 3-4 innings) than Carpenter.

Carpenter is a ****in loser, no idea why Scioscia would bring him in.  Williams and even Kohn are a better option.

yep. He's paid to be a swingman/mopup guy who can eat innings in game situations that are not great without taxing the rest of the bullpen. Best case he contains the damage and the bats wake up and make it a cometitive game again.

The first meeting with Texas this year Jerome went 2 scoreless innings in relief with 2 K's and no hits or walks.

I'm also curious, given that Roth was probably not going to go far, that Scioscia didn't have ANYONE warming up to begin the 4th.

 

Being that there were left handed hitters coming up, he should have had Williams and Maronde warming.

I was really suprised that Jerome wasn't given the nod. He has pitched well so far this season, and his last two outings have been strong. Last time he pitched against the Rangers he went two scoreless innings with a couple of strikeouts. We could have used a couple more strikeouts in this game. I think he earned the right to have a shot at starting this game - it gave us a better shot, and he is a man with experience and baseball smarts, not some wide-eyed, inexperienced kid who just isn't ready for starting yet.
