Watch 1,400 US workers learn their jobs are moving to Mexico

Recommended Posts

How much more are you willing to pay for an AC if it is built in Indiana?

Most consumers want cheaper pricing on goods so they can buy more stupid crap. Jobs moving is 90% on the consumer.

Businesses need to stay alive and are allowed/have to move to other countries to stay competitive with cheaper, lower quality imports. Some businesses have figured out how to have a thriving "made in the USA" business, but not enough. They sell to people who want higher quality, a better warranty and will pay more. One thing I've learned is that buying products made in America doesn't always mean better quality—unfortunately. Too many American factory workers don't give two sh!ts about making a good, consistent product. I don't know why.

An unmotivated workforce doesn't help keep companies in the States.

I'm usually not willing to pay for a new A/C no matter where it is built. If you have ever had them come to your home, bunch of shysters. They do charge more to fill the R-22 now and give you the spiel of going to 410 and the EPA won't let you use it again.

Had a unit go down and the guy was from a Carrier recommended service.  Spent the whole time to give me a quote on my 3 units for close to $30k.  Asked him can you fix the one now and he said he would when he comes back to replace them all and left. Found a guy who doesn't work for an A/C company and he changed a plug for $150 parts and labor.

Let them take their A/C's to Mexico, after all Mexicans understand cooling better than us.  They can be working on a roof when it is 110 out eating raw Habaneros and they are fine.

Had pretty much the exact same thing happen to us.  Must be a Texas thing.  Four years later after we spent about $200, the AC is working like a champ.

I changed a plug on one in my mom's house last year for about $5

For repairs.   I find a google search and understanding the problems, probably can save you a few C's or G's.
