I tuned into Chasing Classic Cars last night in the middle of the episode. I tried to google it to give you all the facts but couldn't find it. As I tune in Wayne is looking at an OLD Volvo, my guess is 40's or 50's. The car was never sold and had 4 miles on it. Still had the seats wrapped. The guy selling it said it very well could still be under warranty. I find it amazing that stuff like this exists out there.

I think classic Volvos are awesome.  They have a mix of American and European styling that is pretty unique.

I have am actually trying to find a nice late 70s Saab 99 Turbo.  Something in good enough condition to be a DD that I will eventually restore.

I bought a new SAAB Turbo once, in 1982 as I remember, and by the time I got it home the rear axel sounded like it might fall off the car and I could hardly keep it on the road.  It got towed back to the dealer, and it took them over three weeks to get the part needed from Europe to repair it.  True Story!

I have owned three Volvos, a '72 142E, a '73 145 and a '76 265DL. The first one had an early fuel injection system and was kind of a headache. The latter had a hydraulic clutch that went out and it cost a fortune to fix. It had a four speed with electric overdrive, activated by a switch on the top of the shifter.

My first car was a Honda 600 Sedan with a 2 cylinder motorcycle engine. I had thoughts of doing this at the time but not the money. Eventually I sold it and bought a FIAT 128 Rally.

Love it.  Can't imagine anyone paying that though.  Seems like the kind of car you keep once you do all that work to it.

Instead of getting a project car I have been trying to convince my wife that we sell our Pathfinder and buy a cheapish old big SUV for hauling stuff and bad weather driving and then also get a new WRX STI or Merc C450 AMG or S4 or something similar.

Don't think I will be able to convince her though.  She does like the Jag XF 35t AWD but it goes for ~55k and it is a Jag so it will always be broken.
