White people love Al and Jesse.

I think it's more about discontent over the black community's failure to take a stand against any issue that doesn't involve a police officer shooting one of their young thugs (for example, a 9-year black boy gets murdered and the black community doesn't do a damn thing - no marches, no riots, etc.). And when a black leader calls them out for shit like this, they ostracize him (see, e.g., Cosby).

But yeah, Al and Jesse.

this is such an obtuse argument.

Maybe it can all be blamed on the media, but for every black person killed by a cop hundreds of black people are killed by other black people. Now there may be thousands of huge protests about these hundreds of murders but we sure and the hell don't see them.

What about the 15-25 people (mostly black) shot every weekend in Chicago by young black thugs? You don't hear much about that in the mainstream media.

But a white cop shoots a black suspect and all hell breaks loose.

(Not condoning the latest incident in the news. Murder charges seem to be appropriate there.)

I agree 110% fan.  Media fuels all this stuff.  Mostly a bunch of execs and producers making these decisions who are likely all white. What causes hysteria and sells is more important than reality.  When Jay finally comes and shoots me, nobody will care and the footage will be cut.  Gotta shoot a black person.

This echoes my feelings, too.

Al and Jesse have every reason to be upset about white cops shooting black kids. But are they also upset about black kids killing black kids? Are they doing anything to address the abundant number of senseless deaths within the black community by its own members? It sure doesn't seem like it, and that makes a lot of their work suspicious.

Mike Tobin: Essentially the question he's getting to is why is there not outrage when there's black on black violence.

Brendan Glover: Because crime is going to happen. Wherever you go, crime happens. And the people that are here to serve and protect are a part of that problem. So it becomes a problem when you can't even call 911 and feel like you're safe — to protect you from people that are committing crimes. That's the point I'm trying to make.

Ton wrong with that article. And unfortunately, its articles like that that lead to people thinking they know the problem, without ever talking to anyone involved in it.

To say "stop and frisk" is about targetting low level crimes is utterly stupid. The whole point of stop and frisk is to get guns. Critics point out young black and brown men are disproportionate in the stats. Well whos doing the shooting? Maxine waters was interviewed after the mike brown verdict. She asked if lapd patrolled beverly hills as much as they did south LA. Two things about that. First, the lapd doesnt patrol beverly hills ms waters...its a seperate city. Second, whats the street crime level in south LA vs the rest of the city?

On the one side the people are saying quit harrassing us. On the other side the people are yelling stop the bad guy. What do you do?

The part of the article saying lapd robbery homicide doesnt work street crimes, leaving the lower detective levels understaffed is equally as stupid. Robbery homicide is just as understaffed...the division level detective bureaus have about the same manpower. RHD gets high profile cases, no different from a fraud detective getting fraud cases (as opposed to robbery), crimes against children detectives getting molestation cases (instead of the gang unit) and the traffic burea working vehicle manslaughter cases (instead of computer crimes detectives).
