Vernon Wells to retire after next season

The amount of money Wells is owed wasn't due to anything Reagins but it certainly wasn't a very good move. In business you wouldn't want to acquire a company with non-negotiable leases or overhead expenses that prevent the acquisition from positively contributing to your bottom line. Even though you didn't sign the leases or work out the contracts it's still stupid to take them on if you can't change them and they are shitty.

I can agree Wells is trying, but why does he always come to camp with a giant beer belly? It's been that way since we got him. He comes to camp about 15 pounds too large in the gut and never loses it. He must be pretty lazy since he has all that time and still can't burn the weight off. We always hear about his new swing blah blah blah. I'd rather see him actually bust his ass getting into shape one season. What a pathetic waste of a roster spot and a waste of 43 million Vernon Wells is

if he is coming off the bench i dont have a major issue with wells. one can argue calhoun should get an extended look at the big league level (and i think eventually he should) but up to this point, there really hasnt been a better option for a 4th outfielder. again, im not a wells fan but i appreciate his attitude...he's not being a little b*tch like abreu was

I don't have a problem with Wells on the bench. I have a problem with him taking at bats from Bourjos and Trumbo. I don't trust Scioscia to leave him where he belongs...on the bench

Also how do I know that Trout hit one in left that a kid ran up in the rock to retrieve it.

Just mostly Wells, Scioscia, Butcher, and Callaspo. I can deal with the rest of the team (Kendrick is on the borderline). Those guys are the cancer to this team and I've had enough of it. I just don't see how we can win a WS with Scioscia playing veterans and running us into outs on the basepaths. Just my opinion. I know many of you disagree
